Inflation rate stands at 1.9% in July

 

Consumer Price Index (CPI) has registered an increase of 1.9 percent, the State Statistical Office said.

At the same time the retail prices have increased by 2.5 percent compared with August 2009.

The CPI soared 0.1 percent during August, comparing to July, while the retail price index rose by 0.2 percent.

The country witnessed soaring prices of central heating, education fees and administration service.

The country witnessed a decrease in prices of fruit, vegetables, milk, dairy products, non-alcoholic beverages, processed meat and other food products.

The consumer basket for food and non-alcoholic beverages per four-member household stood at 11.891 denars in August, calculated on the basis of retail prices. The consumer basket remains at the same level comparing to previous month.

The public has criticized the calculation method. Many consider that the calculations are not in line with the real needs of a four-member family.
